WOLF is a brand new first-person action game built for the Game Boy Color, released by Thalamus Digital Publishing in 2026. It runs on a custom raycasting engine, turning the handheld into a maze of textured corridors and colour-coded levels, each with its own distinct visual identity. In this video we're playing through WOLF with full gameplay and commentary, running the ROM on the MiSTer FPGA.
The goal in each level is simple on paper: hunt down and kill the required number of enemies, recover the Exit Key, and get out before your health runs out. You start with three Health Points, and enemies patrol, pursue, and fire projectiles that can be dodged if you're quick. An overhead radar helps track the shifting level layout, and picking up the Radar item reveals enemy positions too.
WOLF was designed, coded, and illustrated by Shane McCafferty, with music and sound effects by Sloopygoop, for a Rocketship Park production under Thalamus Digital. No generative AI was used in the making of this game.
